A vowel can be worth $10k - Plugged or Pluggd, Dig vs Digg

Interesting article on Seattle startup Pluggd, who chose Pluggd.com over Plugged.com to save cash. I think it points out that unlike the first bubble, this time around smaller startups are choosing domains with branding potential over their more expensive single word equivalents. The most famous example is digg vs dig.

Joomla vs Drupal comparison chart

Alledia provides a sweet comparison between these two platforms. Drupal has a reputation of being more difficult to grok but is a platform built to last. Joomla is known for its eye candy and add-ons.

Social Networking (SNS) Script roundup

http://www.feedbus.com/bookmarks/I’ve been canvassing the available scripts for social networking sites, and what I’ve found doesn’t look too promising. The best bet looks to be Drupal or Joomla with a community add-on.

Here are the ones I’ve come across. I’ve only installed phpIzabi which doesn’t appear to provide modular customizations beyond templating.

I’m not looking to build a myspace clone, which has apparently been the chief motivator for most of these products. I do want to add a community platform to my domain toolkit so that I can add a community without thinking too hard about it.

Here’s the list in no particular order
